Laser tech trick supercharges lithium-sulfur batteries with longer life and power

More coverage on a groundbreaking single-step laser printing technique developed by a research team led by the Assistant Professor of Division of Integrative Systems & Design (ISD) and Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering (ECE), Prof. Mitch LI Guijun to accelerate the manufacturing of lithium-sulfur batteries. Combining the typical time-consuming processes of active material synthesis and cathode preparation into a rapid conversion, the technique is poised to transform industrial-scale production of printable electrochemical energy storage systems. HKUST’s inaugural AI Film Festival (AIFF) concluded last Saturday. Among the 700+ fully-AI generated artworks submitted by filmmakers from over 80 countries and regions, Emmy-nominated storyteller Mr. Nik KLEVEROV won the Best Film for "Memory Maker," while seasoned AI filmmaker Mr. Jeff SYNTHESIZED earned the Frontier Award for "Newton's Cradle,". Rising talent Mr. YE Zhixiang’s "Homecoming" claimed both Best Storytelling and Audience Choice Awards. HKUST held an academic forum on the same day, focusing on four major AI themes, with Oscar Best Visual Effects winner Mr. Brian CONNOR and other experts shared their insights. The Provost, Prof. GUO Yike attended the AIFF alongside distinguished guests. Additionally, Research Associate Professor of Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), Prof. XU Xian and the Assistant Professor of Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), Prof. RAO Anyi shared the details and significance of HKUST’s AIFF in radio interviews. AI On Stage: HKUST Debuts AI-Generated Film Festival

HKUST is hosting the HKUST inaugural AI Film Festival (AIFF), the first of its kind in Greater China. Over 700 filmmakers from over 80 countries and regions have submitted their fully-AI generated artworks. The works of 35 finalists will be showcased in a screening on HKUST campus this Saturday, where the Best Film, Best Narrative, and Frontier Award will be announced. Jury panel includes five-time Oscar winner Mr. Richard TAYLOR. The Provost of HKUST, Prof. GUO Yike, stated that technology is transforming the art industry, and the AIFF is a significant milestone to support HK’s aspiration to become a global art and cultural hub. Prof. GUO Yike also said HKUST is committed to nurturing future talents who can leverage cutting-edge technologies in the art creation process. The Acting Head of Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), Prof. FU Hongbo, said they aim to foster a collaborative environment to exchange knowledge and explore the future of Art Tech. New model can generate audio and music tracks from diverse data inputs

Researchers at HKUST including the Provost, Prof. GUO Yike and the Assistant Professor of Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), Prof. XUE Wei recently introduced AudioX, a model that can generate high quality audio and music tracks using texts, video footage, images, music and audio recordings as inputs.
