Nurturing gifted students: Hong Kong schools' special programmes for brilliant young minds

In an article on tailored programs providing accelerated learning opportunities and diverse skills development for especially talented students, the Professor of Division of Life Science (LIFS), Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering (CBE) and Division of Public Policy (PPOL). Prof. CHOW King-Lau, also Director of the Centre for the Development of the Gifted and Talented (CDGT) at HKUST, said that HKUST’s courses are designed by experienced instructors and administrators to cater to diverse learning needs while promoting academic and personal development. Most courses are built around science, mathematics or engineering, and are taught by university faculty members or other experienced teachers. (SCMP)

The data center space race has begun

In an article on data center space race, it was mentioned that two Chinese companies – privately-held Guoxing Aerospace and provincial government firm Zhejiang Lab – have just deployed the first phase of their Xingsuan satellite computing constellation. The Executive Director of Space Science and Technology Institute (SSTI), the Chair Professor of Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CIVL) and Division of Environment & Sustainability (ENVR), Prof. SU Hui was quoted as saying that the Xingsuan system could be transformative for Earth observation and defense applications requiring low-latency and high-throughput edge data processing.
