A team of ISD postgraduate and undergraduate students - Connie LEE, Timothy CHAN, POON Wing Yan, XU Yang, and YUAN Qiaoyaxiao - has clinched the championship in the I&T for Community (Community Wellness) category for the University / Tertiary Institute Group at the 2nd City I&T Grand Challenge Hong Kong, after multiple rounds of shortlisting. 

Led by Connie, the team developed a groundbreaking AI-customized food printing system that transforms meal preparation for the elderly with specific dietary needs. Their technology enables precise control over nutritional content, texture, and appearance of soft meals, effectively addressing key challenges in elderly nutrition and care.

The team's solution is not only three times faster but also more cost-effective than traditional soft meal preparation methods. Their platform offers a wide range of customizable options, from purees to soft snacks, accommodating various dietary requirements. This application can be further extended to other user groups including personalized nutrition for athletes and children. 

Organized by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) together with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC), the 2nd City I&T Grand Challenge Hong Kong attracted nearly 2,500 local and non-local contestants on an individual or team basis with over 1,170 submissions. It subsequently followed a considerable judging process by implementing multiple rounds of shortlists to the Grand Pitch.
