The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has triumphed in the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, showcasing outstanding achievements and surpassing previous records with 36 teams wining a total of 36 awards. These include the Prize of the Chinese Delegation for Invention and Innovation, four Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, and multiple Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.
The groundbreaking research on Alzheimer's therapeutics by President Prof. Nancy IP won the Prize of the Chinese Delegation for Invention and Innovation and the Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury.
Other Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury winners include advanced photovoltaic smart window for thermal insulation, led by Prof. Changying XIANG, Assistant Professor from the Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD); and rebar tying robot led by Mr. Haozhen LI, a student of MPhil in Individualized Interdisciplinary Program (IIP).
Notable achievements led by Prof. King Lun YEUNG, Professor of the Division of Environment and Sustainability (ENVR), include light-based grooming technology for pets (Gold Medal); multi-purpose silica encapsulating technology co-led by Mr Billy LUK (Gold Medal); durable multilevel antimicrobial protection with MAP-∞ technology (Silver Medal); and Multilevel Antimicrobial & Pest-Repellent (MAPR) formulated products (Bronze Medal).
The AI-generated Food with 3D Printing Solution and Simultaneous Infrared Heating, developed by our ISD postgraduate research students under the guidance of Prof. Mitch LI, Assistant Professor from ISD, was honored with silver medal.
