New model can generate audio and music tracks from diverse data inputs

Researchers at HKUST including the Provost, Prof. GUO Yike and the Assistant Professor of Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), Prof. XUE Wei recently introduced AudioX, a model that can generate high quality audio and music tracks using texts, video footage, images, music and audio recordings as inputs. Nitrogen's dominant role in global organic aerosol absorption revealed

A collaborative research team has introduced a nitrogen-centric framework that explains the light-absorbing effects of atmospheric organic aerosols. The study was jointly led by Prof. YU Jianzhen, the Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry (CHEM) and Division of Environment & Sustainability (ENVR), Prof. FU Tzung-May, Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and National Center for Applied Mathematics Shenzhen (NCAMS). The study, entitled “Nitrogen Dominates Global Atmospheric Organic Aerosol Absorption”, was published in the top-tier international journal Science. (Various media)

MPP Press Conference on Graduates Employment Statistics

Head of Division of Policy (PPOL) Prof. WU Xun introduced the Master in Public Policy (MPP) program in a media conference yesterday as over 80% of its first batch of graduates received 1 or more job offers despite the downturn in economy. Second year student Justin NG, an undergraduate from New York University who returned to Hong Kong for MPP, said this technology and environmental policy -focused program has given him lots of opportunities amid the innovation and tech development at Greater Bay Area. He already got two job offers before his graduation next June. Fresh graduate PENG Guoxian, now working in Tencent as a Product Manager, talked about how the 2-year program has helped him stand out in job interviews with tech giants. Meanwhile, PPOL is launching a new part-time MPP program next year.
