Led by Prof. Mitch LI, Assistant Professor of the Division of Integrative System and Design (ISD), a group of ISD PhD students produced Hong Kong's first batch of 3D printed mooncakes with the HKUST logo using the 3D food printer they designed. The printer can finish producing a mooncake with tailored emblem on it in just 10 minutes.

He added that some HKUST graduates have left HK due to poor career prospects, but the supply of talents will not be a problem if there are enough opportunities for research and development.

Commenting on China’s latest census finding – which showed that the male-female ratio have been narrowed to 111.3 to 100 last year, Prof. Stuart GIETEL-BASTEN from Division of Public Policy said the lower birthrate of girls have gradually driven a shift in the attitudes on gender roles and values. Separately, he said in another article that while mainland’s population is getting older on average, there’s also a rise in literacy and enhanced health condition of the older population, and such increase in their productivity could serve to offset some of the impact of a slower population growth.

Commenting on China’s latest census finding which showed an intensifying gender imbalance with the number of male outstripping female by 34.9 million in 2020, Division of Public Policy Prof. Stuart GIETEL-BASTEN said for ‘bare branch’ men who can’t find a marriage, they should think of new strategies to develop relationships and have a meaningful love and sex life.
