Through the wealth of training and out-of-classroom experience, students will be challenged and prepared for personal development, advancement of HKUST's diverse campus life, and contribution to the society at large.
With members’ inspiring sharing, vivid slideshow and award presentation at the ceremony, the REDbird community celebrated members’ achievements of the past year and kick-started the new program for the 8th cohort of new members.
Ronald NG was awarded the Gold Awardee. He benefited most from the REDbird’s career development activities including interview workshop, mentorship and internship. Ronald’s mentor, Mr. K K WONG, was the Executive Director of Tenacity Group who has profound knowledge in banking and property markets. Mr. WONG shared his insights of banking industry with Ronald, guided him further towards risk management and compliance, and kindly offered advices to Ronald’s internship at The Bank of East Asia at Singapore. All of those cannot be learnt through regular lectures and are valuable for better preparing Ronald for his future career.
Simon CHEUNG was awarded the Gold Awardee and the Top Achiever 2014/15 who actively participated in many REDbird projects and trainings. What impressed Simon most was the service learning project “Take a Step Further – Raise a Brighter Future for Jiangxi Children” that he initiated with four other service trip participants. They organized a fund-raising event during April to raise over HK$8,000 to buy useful resources like stationery and water bottles to the left-behind children at Jiangxi. Simon was grateful to have a team of passionate and committed members to work together towards the same good cause and realized that determination and perseverance could turn impossible to be possible. After the success of this project, Simon has greater confidence in pursuing his thoughts and ideas. He has decided to benefit the local community by initiating service project to help local children from low-income families.
