ENVR faculty joined international experts to discuss innovative approaches to climate change early-warning systems at the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok.

Prof. CHEN Fei, ENVR Associate Head and WMO Urban Prediction Project Co-Chair, stressed the importance of international collaboration and localized climate adaptation strategies. 

Prof. Alexis LAU, ENVR Head and Director of HKUST's Institute for the Environment (IENV), presented PRAISE-HK, an innovative personalized air quality warning system, showcasing its potential application to other extreme weather events.

This dialogue stands as a testament to HKUST's commitment to sustainability, recently highlighted by our 36^th place in THE's Impact Rankings 2024—the only global performance table that assesses universities against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
