ENVR faculty joined international experts to discuss innovative approaches to climate change early-warning systems at the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok.

Prof. CHEN Fei, ENVR Associate Head and WMO Urban Prediction Project Co-Chair, stressed the importance of international collaboration and localized climate adaptation strategies.

Prof. Alexis LAU, ENVR Head and Director of HKUST's Institute for the Environment (IENV), presented PRAISE-HK, an innovative personalized air quality warning system, showcasing its potential application to other extreme weather events.

This dialogue stands as a testament to HKUST's commitment to sustainability, recently highlighted by our 36th place in THE's Impact Rankings 2024—the only global performance table that assesses universities against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
