In the age of AI, human experience is not fading. It is being reshaped by technology and re-encountered through art in ways we may never expect.
The Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC) under The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)’s Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) has opened its inaugural MA graduation exhibition “When Experience Returns Otherwise”. 19 student artists present six interactive installations and eight GenAI films that dive into the realms of AI, human-computer interaction, and computer graphics.
Most of these works grew out of AMC’s Student Interest Group (SIG), a student-led platform designed for artistic and technological experimentation.
A division founded just two years ago, AMC is already making history with its first cohort. At the opening, Dean of AIS Prof. QU Huamin celebrated this inaugural exhibition as a landmark moment for the University. Acting Head of AMC Prof. FU Hongbo echoed that pride, honoring students who took risks, pushed boundaries, and saw complex ideas through — setting a high standard for the future of art and technology.
