Five HKUST teams, composed of undergraduates from the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS), took home top prizes at Hong Kong Techathon+ 2026, competing against 470 entries and showcasing their innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Kushai DWIVEDI from the Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP), teaming up with HKUST fellows, won the Gold Award in the Trusted AI & Data Science category (Open Group) with their AI-powered smart shin guards, designed to track various performance metrics. Their presentation also earned them the Best Presentation Award, as voted by the audience among all Gold-winning teams.
Four teams led by AIS students also achieved remarkable success in various themes. Victor NESTERUK and ZENG Ling Bo from the BSc in Innovation, Design and Technology* program won Silver in Trusted AI & Data Science with their proposal “NewsFlick”. T&M-DDP student Ringo NG Tsz Long and XU Siu Yuk from the BSc in Sustainable and Green Finance program also secured Silver in Sustainability & ESG with their project “CUBIK”.
In the Digital Economy and Smart City theme, “NeoWing” led by T&M-DDP student Danika CHAN Dong Ching claimed the Bronze Award while “NorthStar” led by T&M-DDP student Marcus KO Sung Kit received the Merit Award.
Since 2015, Hong Kong Techathon+ has served as a flagship annual cross-universities entrepreneurship competition. Co-organized by HKSTP and 15 leading universities and institutions in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Techathon+ encourage innovators to embrace the challenge with innovative vibes.
