The AIS Best Research Award (formerly named as IPO Best Research Award) was established in 2011 with the support of the Provost’s Office to recognize outstanding achievements by research postgraduate students who made the most original and influential research achievements outcome from their study that has been carried out mainly at HKUST.

The AIS Lightning Talk cum Best Research Award 2023/24 presentation ceremony was held successfully on April 29, 2024.

 

The event commenced with AIS Dean Prof. Huamin QU, presenting the AIS Best Research Award 2023/24 to the recipients. Among the nominations for 2023/24, Dr. LI Yue (PhD in Environmental Science, Policy and Management program, Class of 2023) and Ms. FUNG Ka Yan Gabby (PhD in Individualized Interdisciplinary Program, Year 3) were selected as the recipients of the first prize and merit prize of the PhD category respectively while Mr HENARES Timothy Joseph (Mphil in Environmental Science, Policy and Management program, Year 2) won the First Prize in MPhil Category.

 

Following the awards presentation, the winners, our faculty and other research postgraduate students took turn to deliver a 5-min presentation about their research work and answered questions from the floor. Over 20 AIS faculty members and students joined the discussion to exchange research and academic insights.

5.    “A systematic mapping of research on public policy effectiveness to address disparities/inequities in mental health conditions among older adults” by Mr. SHAIKH Faisal, PhD Student in Public Policy Program
6.    “Strengthening institutional resilience against the multi-hazard threats associated with tropical cyclones in mid-latitude areas in East Asia” by Mr YIU Chun Fai Raymond, PhD in Public Policy Program
7.     “Landing HCI mindset into real world: a support and governance framework” by Mr LIU Chengzhong, PhD in EMI
