Prof. Alexis LAU of Division of Environment who leads the project said the app would be operated on big data collected from government departments like the Hong Kong Observatory and Transport Department, and also from public transport areas, malls etc. The app will be launched in 3 stages and fully completed in 5 years. By then, the public can obtain real-time air quality plus health risks information and map-out a route to avoid heavily polluted area.
