In late January 2026, students and faculty from the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC) and the Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas (EMIA) embarked on a vibrant two-day visit to HKUST(GZ) campus and Guangzhou. This trip, jointly organized by the Computational Media and Arts (CMA) Thrust of the Information Hub at HKUST(GZ), fostered meaningful interactions between the HKUST Clear Water Bay and Guangzhou campuses.

The visit began at the HKUST(GZ) Visitor Center, where participants engaged with immersive facilities and VR technologies, learning about cutting-edge research and top-notch facilities on the campus. The outdoor VR immersive tour offered an augmented reality experience that transformed the campus into an interactive narrative landscape.

After visiting the Guangzhou campus, the group explored the Guangzhou Museum of Art, gaining insights into the city’s rich cultural heritage through a diverse array of traditional artworks and exhibitions. The itinerary also included a visit to 37 Interactive Entertainment, a prominent game company in Mainland China. Participants attended an engaging session on internship and career opportunities in game design, engineering, narrative development, and UI/UX, gaining valuable insights into the gaming industry.

This AMC & EMIA cross-campus visit reinforced connections between HKUST’s Clear Water Bay and Guangzhou campuses, enhancing collaborative relationships through research sharing, cultural experiences, lab visits, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
