Seven AIS students from various programs earned notable recognition at Hong Kong Techathon+ 2025, proving their capabilities across multiple categories.
Teaming up with other HKUST students, MSc(TLE) student CHEN Jiaying and PhD(IIP) student YANG Simin won the Silver Award in the Trusted AI & Data Science category with "CardioQuest VR", an innovative heart health immersive experience that leverages virtual reality technology.
The Sustainability and ESG category saw two HKUST teams receiving recognition. Team “MetaGreenX", which includes ISD Year 3 student Evan CHAN Kei Ching, won the Silver Award for their tech-empowered natural-based solutions for resource conservation. Meanwhile, T&M-DDP Year 5 student Leon CHENG Leong’s team "RiceFort" earned a Merit Award for their innovative approach to upcycling rice husk into bio-based materials.
ISD Year 3 students LI Jiayun and YAU Hei Chung claimed a Merit Award in the Digital Economy category for "LLM Anime characters HIKARI," a project exploring large language models in character creation.
Merit Award in the Smart Cities category went to team "Swayscooter", with MSc(TLE) student LU Hongyu contributing to their innovative urban mobility solution.
Since 2015, Hong Kong Techathon+ has served as a flagship annual cross-universities entrepreneurship competition. Co-organised by HKSTP and 13 leading Hong Kong universities and institutions, this competition enables students and young professionals to showcase their technological innovations and entrepreneurial spirit while developing solutions for real-world challenges across various domains.
