Sabina YESSALY, Year 2 student of the Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP), recently spoke with Wen Wei Po on stepping out of her comfort zone to pursue a world-class education in Hong Kong under the Belt and Road Scholarship.

In the discussion, Sabina shared her decision to choose The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) over universities in the US, reflecting a growing trend of Central Asian students looking to Hong Kong for higher education. She highlighted how the university’s dynamic environment has inspired her personal and academic growth. "The vibrant pace of campus life taught me how to manage my time effectively, balance my studies, and make friends from all over the world," she noted.

During her studies at HKUST, Sabina has already gained valuable real-world experience, including conducting market research for a leading engineering firm to identify new opportunities in Kazakhstan.

Looking ahead, she plans to combine her major in Computer Science with her Business Administration degree through the T&M-DDP program to leverage Hong Kong's status as a global financial center. "I really want to stay and work in Hong Kong," she said, confident that the city offers the perfect environment to utilize her specialized skills.
