Year 5 student Mickey YAU from Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) recently received HKUST Stephen Kam-chuen Cheong Outstanding Student Award (SKCC Award) 2022.
SKCC Award is an annual award aiming to recognize and honor excellent students who contribute to the HKUST, lead and inspire others, and make a positive impact on the campus and beyond. The recipient is chosen based on their outstanding merits, qualities, achievements and/ or contributions in support of the University’s mission and core values.
SKCC Selection Committee was most impressed by Mickey’s stunning change from a shy person to a poised and confident young leader, as well as his outstanding achievement in overcoming the academic and social challenges. Mickey developed and matured into a well-liked team leader with good project management skills, who led a team in winning the 10th place out of 150 teams in a hackathon organized by JP Morgan. Being a good problem solver with entrepreneurial spirit, Mickey also co-founded a start-up in the use of Zoom for choir practice without time delay.
Mickey said, "During my study in T&M-DDP, I have met many ambitious peers and professors who have inspired me to strive for excellence, from academic studies, internships, start-ups and competitions. These things are irreplaceable and would push me forward to a new stage of my life."
Many congratulations to Mickey again on receiving the student award!
