The Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) co-organized with the Dean of Students’ Office (DSTO) two “Meet-and-Greet” sessions and four “small group” sessions of Therapy Dog Mingling in November 2023 to facilitate student relaxation and rejuvenation during the hectic period of final projects and presentations.
Over 40 AIS students from our UG and PG programs participated in these sessions. They enjoyed the companion of the therapy dogs while studying, doing the assignments or projects at AIS Learning Commons. With the presence of the cute therapy dogs, the vibe of the commons became more relaxed and serene.
In the highly interactive small group sessions, the therapy dog, Luna or Bruno, played with the students under guidance from their respective handlers. Though most of the attendees are pet owners or dog lovers, a few who were afraid of dogs tried for the first time a close encounter with our well trained, lovely therapy dogs. They overcame their psychological barrier and felt more comfortable to face dogs after that.
The next round of Therapy Dog Mingling and more wellness activities will be held in coming Spring semester. Keep an eye on the emails from “aiswellness”!
