Congratulations to the two teams securing top positions at the BNP Paribas Sustainable Finance Challenge Hong Kong 2025!
Team HAAR, consisting of four Year 1 students in the Sustainable and Green Finance (SGFN) Program - Ruth KPALMA, Andrea CHIA, YAU Hoi Ting, and Alby LAU - clinched the first runner-up position. Meanwhile, Team Carbono, consisting of Alicia UTAMA (Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP), Year 2) along with HKUST teammates, secured the second runner-up spot.
The competition challenged undergraduate students from four major Hong Kong universities to develop innovative solutions for real-world sustainable finance issues faced by banks and the wider financial industry. Participating teams tackled diverse problem statements ranging from sustainable investment and energy transition to green circular economy and low-carbon construction. After a rigorous selection process, the finalists refined their proposals under the guidance of experienced mentors before presenting their solutions to a distinguished jury panel from BNP Paribas.
As recognition of their outstanding achievement, both winning teams have earned invitations to an exclusive networking event with BNP Paribas Hong Kong senior management and bankers across various business lines. This valuable opportunity will allow winning teams to expand their professional connections and gain deeper insights into potential career pathways in the rapidly evolving field of sustainable finance.
