Prof. Naubahar SHARIF, Head and Professor of the Division of Public Policy (PPOL), has been reappointed as one of the 59 members of the Hong Kong government's Chief Executive's Policy Unit (CEPU) Expert Group, continuing his meaningful contributions to Hong Kong's policy development landscape.

Following his reappointment, Prof. SHARIF sat down with CEPU Head Dr. Stephen WONG to discuss the extremely valuable role that CEPU plays in bridging academic research and policy-making. He emphasized CEPU's collaborative approach, particularly noting how visits to research institutes like HKUST's Institute for Public Policy offer researchers essential insights into strategic long-term policy-making processes. This interaction provides crucial direction on how to align scholarly work for greater impact across Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and Greater China.

Prof. SHARIF also explained his role as a reviewer for CEPU's funding schemes, describing his responsibilities as ensuring high integrity and scientific quality. He especially commended the "Fireside Chat with CEPU Experts" sessions, calling them a highlight for bringing together "high-powered individuals and intellectual firepower" from legislators, scholars, and industry participants.

With his extensive expertise in science, technology and innovation policy, Prof. SHARIF continues to provide significant insights that help shape Hong Kong's research strategy and future development.
