Prof. Laurence DELINA, Assistant Professor of from Division of Environment & Sustainability was awarded The Balik Scientist Award in November 2019.
The award, presented by the Department of Science and Technology of Republic of the Philippines, aims to encourage Filipino Scientists, like Prof. DELINA, or Scientists of Filipino descent to return to the Philippines to share their expertise to strengthen the scientific and technical human resources of the academe, the public and private institutions including the industry to accelerate the flow of new and strategically important technologies that are vital to national development. As part of the award program, in 2019 winter, Prof. DELINA spent a few weeks at Philippines to give talks in universities and draw up plans for sustainable projects, including a project on climate resilient energy systems for typhoon-prone islands.
