We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Laurence DELINA, Assistant Professor of the Division of Environment and Sustainability (ENVR), has been honored with the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS) Early Career Award. This prestigious accolade recognizes Prof. DELINA's exceptional achievements and promising potential in teaching, research, policy, or activism in the field of environmental science and studies.


The AESS Awards, established in 2010, aim to recognize faculty, scholars and students in Environmental Studies and Sciences at all career stages who exemplify the highest standards of teaching, scholarship and service to the AESS community. These awards are presented during the annual AESS Conference, which was held virtually from 20 to 21 June 2024.


As a scholarly and professional organization, AESS promotes interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service for faculty and students in over 1,000 environmental academic programs worldwide. Prof. DELINA's selection for the Early Career Award is a testament to his outstanding contributions to knowledge, community, and diversity in environmental studies and science.


Prof. DELINA's research primarily focuses on climate, energy, and resilience, with a specific emphasis on vulnerable populations in Southeast Asia, his home region. His dedication to addressing the challenges faced by these communities has been widely recognized.
