Prof. Kei May LAU, Research Professor of the Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas (EMIA), was featured by the Office of the Provost as a Star Faculty at HKUST!

 

Prof. LAU is renowned for her innovative research in photonics technology. In the Star Faculty video, she discusses the evolution of illumination technologies, explains how her research focuses on energy-efficient and versatile micro-LED, micro-Display technologies, and the potential applications of her work range from creating more dynamic traffic management systems to transforming windowless rooms with virtual windows that display real-time external environments to virtual reality glasses.

 

Prof. LAU's connection to HKUST and her role in fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment. As the first native Hongkonger elected as a regular member of the United States National Academy of Engineering for research conducted in Hong Kong, she represents HKUST’s commitment to world-class research and international recognition.
