Prof. CHEN Fei, Associate Head and Professor of HKUST’s Division of Environment and Sustainability, has been elected as a fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), joining a slate of 53 international researchers in the 2024 Class of AGU Fellows for “significant contributions to the Earth and space sciences”.
As a subject expert in land-surface and hydrology processes, land-atmosphere interactions, and human-nature system coupling, this fellowship adds to Prof. Chen’s recent appointment as the co-chair of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) World Weather Research Programme (WWRP)’s new urban prediction project.
AGU, the world's largest Earth and space science association, annually honors a select number of individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their fields through a breakthrough, discovery, or innovation. Each year, no more than 0.1% of AGU members have been selected as the Union Fellows, following a considerable selection process.
Honorees will be recognized at AGU24, which will convene more than 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries in Washington, D.C., and online from December 9-13, 2024.
Please join us in celebrating this scientific eminence of Prof. Chen!
