The "Integrating Health and Social Care Services for the Elderly in Asia" conference, organized by the Institute for Public Policy (IPP) at HKUST, successfully concluded on 30 Oct 2023.
The conference serves as a dynamic platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to address a pressing challenge in East Asian societies. In many East Asian societies, the prevalence of multi-morbidity of the elderly population and the fragmentation of care provision systems have created complex policy dilemmas, impeding the improvement of elderly service. However, this adversity has also sparked innovation, leading to the emergence of remarkable care models in the region.
In response to the rising complexities of multi-morbidity and fragmented care systems, this conference draws inspiration from research conducted by the Asia Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (APO). It spotlights innovative models emerging in Asia and serves as a vital platform for the exchange of knowledge and the engagement of stakeholders. With a mission to foster collaboration, exchange of ideas, and stakeholder engagement, this event is dedicated to addressing the complex challenges posed by our aging population more effectively and finding solutions that enhance the wellbeing of our elderly populations.
