From January 2 to 11, 2025, 12 students from the Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP), led by T&M-DDP Associate Director Prof. Betty LIN, embarked on a 10-day adventure in Austin, United States, for the International Business Plan Competition (IBPC)!

This year’s competition, hosted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) with theme in "Innovating the Future of Transportation", brought together students from four Universities, including HKUST, UIUC, University of Bayreuth (UBT), and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Together, they collaborated to create innovative business plans for technology-driven solutions addressing key challenges in the transportation industry.

Throughout the program, our students engaged with experts in various fields, enhancing their skills in cross-cultural collaboration and strategic project management. They emerged with impressive portfolio-ready deliverables, a broader understanding of teamwork across diverse backgrounds, all while expanding their global network. Between the Intense competition schedule, students also enjoyed the itinerary with visits to local tech startups and leading giants, team-based coaching from industry practitioners and investors, as well as scenic tours and delicious Mexican-style cuisine.

A huge thank you to the mentors for their invaluable guidance and inspiration! And a special shoutout to Prof. Betty Lin for leading this unforgettable experience. Our participants returned not only with new skills and knowledge but also with lasting friendships and cherished memories.
