Technology is evolving faster than ever and shaping the rules and future of our society. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come to define society today in many ways. HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike and AIS Dean Prof. QU Huamin recently sat down with RTHK Hong Kong Connection to delve into the application of AI in education, the novel “Major+AI” program launched in 2021, and talent cultivation. 

In this episode, Anson POON Kwan Hei, a Year 4 student majoring in Computer Science + AI, shares his learning journey and capstone project, showcasing the integration of AI with his major. 

HKUST launched a novel academic framework “Major + X” as a new degree option for undergraduates in 2021 to blend traditional programs with emerging hot topics such as AI. This new degree structure not only offers students with greater flexibility, but also allows for timely curriculum adjustment and better integration between existing and new knowledge to meet with the emerging need of the society.
