The HKUST Faculty Recognition Ceremony 2025 took place on December 1 to acknowledge and applaud the remarkable accomplishments of faculty members in the 2024-25 academic year.

 

Four AIS faculty members (in alphabetical order of surnames)—Prof. CHEN Fei, Prof. GUO Song, Prof. Alex HE Jingwei, and Prof. YU Jianzhen— were honored at the ceremony for receiving significant external accolades for their research excellence, underscoring their impactful contributions and celebrating the vibrant research community at HKUST.

 

Prof. CHEN Fei
Professor in the Division of Environment and Sustainability

  • Received the 2025 Luke Howard Award from the International Association for Urban Climate
  • Elected Fellow of the American Geophysical Union

 

Prof. GUO Song
Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Division of Integrative Systems and Design

  • Received the 2024 Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award from the IEEE Computer Society

 

Prof. Alex HE Jingwei
Professor in the Division of Public Policy

  • Received the IPPA Transition and Developing Economies Award 2025
  • Awarded the RGC Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship 2025/26

 

Prof. YU Jianzhen
Chair Professor in the Department of Chemistry and the Division of Environment and Sustainability

  • Secured major funding from the RGC Theme-based Research Scheme 2025/26
  • Conferred as RGC Senior Research Fellow 2025/26

 

During the ceremony, Prof. Chen and Prof. Yu delivered short talks on their recent research projects, “World Weather Research Program’s Urban-PREDICT Project” and “Chemical Weather Observations of Carbon Chemistry in the Greater Bay Area” respectively.
