Bobo LAI, a 2020 graduate of Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT), has always been passionate about sustainability, and decided from an early age that she wanted her career to be focused on improving the environment. After graduation, she joins Ampd Energy (Ampd), a construction technology startup company based in Hong Kong that is committed to making the construction industry emission-free, as a Business Development Specialist.
Bobo found out about Ampd during her final year project with Gammon Construction where she was tasked to explore how to electrify construction sites. She was amazed by the Enertainer, a flagship product developed by Ampd, which uses battery technology to make construction sites cleaner by replacing diesel generators. Enertainer does not only provide an environmental-friendly solution to the problem of insufficient power supply at these construction sites, but also save energy cost for the contractor.
Bobo found Ampd’s vision, products and technologies all in line with what she believes. She also likes the idea of promoting sustainability in construction industry as her father is a construction worker and she wants to bring him a safer, quieter, and healthier working environment with the new technology.
Learning green technology, social science and also business from the interdisciplinary program, EVMT, Bobo has been equipped with environmental knowledge and business soft skills that makes her a perfect fit at Ampd. She enjoys going to the construction sites and communicate with people from all levels, from the company director to the site electrician. Her favorite thing about her job is delivering a complete solution to the customer when she follows the whole sales process from the beginning to the delivery.
