We are thrilled to share that WANG Xiaoqing, a second-year PhD student in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (ESPM), has been awarded the Best Full Paper Award in the Sustainable and Responsible Business track at the British Academy of Management (BAM) 2025 Conference, one of the most prestigious annual events in the academic field of management in the UK.
Her award-winning paper, “Selective Disclosure and Corporate Environmental Efforts”, was co-authored with Prof. Keith CHAN and Prof. Quentin MOREAU, Assistant Professors in the Division of Environment and Sustainability.
This award also marks Xiaoqing’s second best paper award during her doctoral studies. In 2024, she received the FMCG Best Paper Award for her earlier work.
We extend our warm congratulations to Xiaoqing on this outstanding achievement, which reflects both her research excellence and ENVR’s ongoing commitment to impactful, internationally recognized scholarship.
Paper Summary:
Drawing on a global dataset from 2011 to 2023, the study finds that selective corporate environmental disclosure is consistently and negatively associated with emissions abatement performance in both the short and long run. It further reveals that investors tend to tolerate, rather than divest from, firms engaging in selective disclosure. Overall, the findings highlight the critical role of the information environment and investment horizon in advancing sustainability goals.
