Dr. Jac LEUNG and Prof. Winnie LEUNG from the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies have received this year’s Thetos Early Career Distinguished Teaching Award and Thetos Teaching Award Honorable Mention, respectively, recognizing their teaching excellence, their contributions to the enhancement of teaching and learning, and the overall impact of their instruction.
Dr. Jac Leung has been recognized for his exceptional, student-centered teaching that integrates design thinking, systems thinking, and AI literacy through project-based learning. Since joining the Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD) as Lecturer in 2022, he has taught a wide range of undergraduate courses, led course design and enhancement initiatives, and supervised award-winning student projects. Beyond the classroom, he is deeply involved in co-curricular activities and student engagement.
Prof. Winnie Leung, ISD Associate Professor of Engineering Education, bridges the gap between technical expertise and business strategy in the classroom. Drawing on her extensive cross-disciplinary background in engineering and entrepreneurship, she provides students with a unique and multi-faceted perspective when teaching in both engineering and entrepreneurship disciplines. Prof. Leung has been recognized for her sustained contributions to teaching and her longstanding commitment to excellence in education.
Established by Thetos Foundation Hong Kong in 2024, the Thetos Distinguished Teaching Award is the first award at HKUST to recognize the teaching excellence and contributions of teaching-track faculty, and to support their teaching advancement projects and personal development.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jac Leung and Prof. Winnie Leung!
