This is the 2nd year IPO organized “Exploring IPO at HKUST” for prospective students to know more about our four undergraduate programs:  Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management (T&M-DDP), Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program (RMBI), Environmental Management and Technology Program (EVMT) and Individualized Interdisciplinary Major Program (IIM).

On 25 November 2017, secondary students, current IPO students and alumni joined the event together at the Library of HKUST. Prof. King L. CHOW, Director of IPO, welcomed all students and briefly introduced the four undergraduate programs. Prof. CHOW explained the importance of acquiring interdisciplinary knowledge in handing complex issues of our world and advised students to follow their interest to choose their program choices.

IPO invited two alumni to share about their career insights. Ms Julianna KO, T&M-DDP graduate, jointly invented a smart baby diet tracker device to keep track of baby feeding with other HKUST students. She shared why T&M-DDP was a good choice for people who were interested in both technology and business and how the program equipped her to establish her own startup. Ms Christ KO, EVMT graduate, started a Chinese tea shop to promote Chinese tea and green eating habits. She said EVMT was the best choice for people who wanted to take action to help protect the environment because we cannot do it alone without government policy and business support. She shared how EVMT’s comprehensive curriculum and exposure help students achieve this goal and how the program shaped her to become a young entrepreneur in green business.

After the inspiring sharing, current IPO and alumni shared more about the study tips, their university life and career prospects in groups with secondary students.
