17 faculty members from HKUST’s Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) have been ranked among the world’s Top 2% most-cited scientists for 2024, according to the latest metrics compiled by Stanford University, published on September 16, 2024.

 

The number of AIS faculty members listed in the report accounts for 36% of our regular faculty. 5 of them have been featured on both lists of career-long and single-year impact. The listing of our faculty members spans across diverse scientific fields, namely Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Economics & Business, Enabling & Strategic Technologies, Engineering, Information & Communication Technologies, Physics & Astronomy, and Social Sciences. 

 

This recognition underscores AIS’ strength in driving interdisciplinary research and new pedagogy, and the diverse expertise of our faculty members. Applause for our top-notch faculty members for their contributions and influence in their respective fields!

About World’s Top 2% of the Most-cited Scientists by Stanford University 2024
The “science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” compiled by Stanford University is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field, using Scopus data. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Career-long data are updated to end-of-2023 and single recent year data pertain to citations received during calendar year 2023.
