In a remarkable display of cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation, 16 students from the Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) joined forces with peers from the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) at the Asia Business Plan Competition in Taiwan this Summer. This enriching multicultural experience allowed our students to blend their diverse perspectives, tackling pressing challenges in AI and entrepreneurship while gaining invaluable insights from one another in a collaborative environment.

Led by Prof. Betty LIN (T&M-DDP Associate Director), our T&M-DDP students embarked on an incredible 11-day journey in Taiwan from June 22 to July 2, 2025, competing for the theme “AIoT & Edge AI” to design solutions that leverage these technologies to improve efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life in Taiwan and beyond.

The trip was packed with experiential learning opportunities, including company visits and master workshops. The students explored Taiwan’s startups, gained insights from industry leaders, and honed their interpersonal skills through collaboration with peers from diverse backgrounds. With the invaluable experiences shared by the mentors and the guidance of Prof. Lin, Dr. Anand RAMCHAND from NUS, and Dr. Ali Ying-Che HSIEH from NTHU, the students developed innovative business ideas, integrating with cutting-edge technologies and entrepreneurship, to present at the pitch competition.

Amidst their hard work, the students also enjoyed a day discovering the city, sampling its iconic landmarks and delicious street food. All participants returned not only with new skills and knowledge but also with lasting friendships and cherished memories.
