The IPO Best Research Award Presentation Ceremony for 2017/18 was held on 3 May 2018. Two PhD students of Environmental Science, Policy and Management Program (ESPM) were selected as the recipient of the first prize. Ms. HE Xiao, second-year PhD student of ESPM, won the prize with her research in the areas of atmospheric chemistry, aerosol and analytical chemistry. Mr. LIU Tong, forth-year PhD student of ESPM, was awarded for his research on environmental economics.
The Selection Committee, comprising Prof Jianping GAN (Chair), Prof Stuart Arthur GIETEL-BASTEN (Division of Public Policy) and Prof Stanley LAU (Division of Environment and Sustainability), assessed candidates on the research impact and output on evidence-based criteria based on candidates’ work done at HKUST. The Selection Committee hopes the Award will encourage students to continue their research work and make an impact to the society.
The IPO Best Research Award was established in 2011 with the support of the Executive Vice-President & Provost’s Office to recognize outstanding achievements by research postgraduate students who made the most original and influential research achievements outcome from their study that has been carried out mainly at HKUST. The key objective of the Award is to foster the overall quality of research education in the University.
