ISD Undergraduates Sweep Five Innovation and Startup Awards with Their AI-Native News Platform “Fliq”

The startup co-founded by Victor NESTERUK and ZENG Ling-Bo, undergraduates from the Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD), has garnered accolades for its AI-native mobile news platform, “Fliq,” sweeping five awards across leading technology and entrepreneurship competitions in 2026.

“Fliq” is an AI-native mobile news platform designed to bring a new generation back to news on their own terms. By transforming multi-source coverage into structured and visual stories, it clearly separates facts, evidence, and public interpretations. Readers can easily verify claims, explore deeper context, and track evolving storylines in real time. By redesigning news around understanding, trust, and personal relevance, Fliq aims to help people understand the world and their place in it, form independent views, and make informed decisions.

This news platform has captured industry-wide attention by successfully bridging advanced AI engineering with human-centric design since its inception, clinching top honors across five competitions in 2026:

  • The 12th Hong Kong Value Creation for Technology: Pitching Competition – 2nd Runner-up
  • Firebird Hackathon 2026– Merit Award and Top 10 Finalist (Open Track)
  • Enactus Hong Kong SAR Regional Competition 2026– Regional Champion (Early Stage Track)
  • IET Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition (YPEC) 2026– Champion (Undergraduate Section)
  • Hong Kong Techathon+ 2026– Silver Award (Trusted AI & Data Science Category)

This success exemplifies how interdisciplinary training in the ISD undergraduate program—BSc in Innovation, Design and Technology (IDT)—empowers students to integrate emerging technologies, design thinking, and entrepreneurial execution to turn their visions into reality.
