Prof. Alex HE Jingwei, Professor of the Division of Public Policy, has been appointed as a Member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Panel (Joint Research Schemes) of the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, with effect from March 31, 2026 to January 31, 2029, in acknowledgment of his expertise and contributions in the field of social sciences.

As a leading scholar in public policy both locally and internationally, Prof. He is currently commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Asia Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies to lead a five-year regional research consortium focused on digital health innovation. His academic excellence was further underscored by the RGC’s Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship Scheme 2025-26, awarded for his impactful research and its socio-economic applications.

Prior to this appointment, Prof. He has served on the assessment panel of RGC’s Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector since 2020.

In assessing applications for RGC’s research grants on the basis of peer review, the five subject panels including Humanities and Social Sciences work through a network of reviewers, comprising international experts in their fields both in Hong Kong and other regions. There are two pools of panel members, one focuses on the evaluation of proposals in General Research Fund and other funding schemes for individual research and the other on Joint Research Schemes proposals.

With a steadfast commitment to Hong Kong’s research excellence, Prof. He will work closely with his fellow Panel members to provide valuable insights in the evaluation of research grant applications.
