The HKUST team “Triple Bottom Line”—comprising Nicole LAU Tsz-Kee from BSc in Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT) program, along with Evan CHAN Kei-Ching and Saanvi Ravi KATYAYAN from BSc in Innovation, Design and Technology (IDT)* program—has been crowned the winner of the BNP Paribas Sustainable Finance Hackathon 2026, prevailing over 7 finalist teams and more than 170 student participants.
This year’s hackathon, in partnership with the Tara Ocean Foundation, challenged undergraduate and postgraduate students from four major universities in Hong Kong to design practical, finance-driven solutions that help companies reduce their ocean-related impacts, while remaining economically viable, measurable and scalable.
The team impressed a jury of BNP Paribas senior management with their innovative solution for a future-proof shrimp supply chain, connecting ocean impact reduction with a realistic financing mechanism in the aquafood sector.
As a reward for their outstanding performance, the winning team will receive priority consideration for BNP Paribas graduate or internship programs, and an exclusive chance to attend an event aboard the Tara Ocean schooner when it docks in Hong Kong later in 2026.
