The Year 2 students from the Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) commenced their spring semester with an enriching 3-day, 2-night field trip to the Greater Bay Area in early February 2026. This journey offered them a valuable opportunity to engage deeply with the forefront of China's economic development, technological advancements, and innovations, enhancing their understanding of pivotal developments shaping the global landscape.
The trip included visits to prominent organizations, beginning with BGI Genomics in Shenzhen, where students delved into their cutting-edge sequencing and bioinformatics technologies. They also visited Alibaba in Guangzhou, allowing them to witness the operations of one of the world’s largest e-commerce giants and understand its influence on global retail and consumer behavior.
In addition to these industry-focused experiences, students had the chance to immerse themselves in local culture at Nantou Ancient City to explore the blend of historical heritage and modern cultural revitalization. This cultural exploration continued at the Guangming Science Museum, where interactive exhibits made complex scientific concepts accessible, sparking curiosity and engagement among students.
To conclude the trip, students enjoyed a fun-filled day at Chimelong Resort, where they connected with peers through various activities, creating lasting memories together. This field trip was not merely an academic excursion, but also a holistic experience that encouraged students to think critically, build industry connections, and gain a broader perspective on their studies in a global context.
