Prof. Timothy PAGE, Assistant Professor in the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity, has been selected as one of just twelve recipients of the Fromm Music Foundation Commission at Harvey University this year, from a competitive pool of composers whose work is shaping the future of contemporary music.
Prof. Page's new composition for ensemble and multichannel electronics, commissioned by Ensemble Dal Niente, will be premiered in an upcoming season. The new work will also be performed by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble.
This honor adds to his growing list of accolades, including being 2023 recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and recognition as HKUST’s Star Faculty. Prof. Page’s works have been performed around the globe by ensembles such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Dal Niente, Third Coast Percussion, Eighth Blackbird, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (FI), among others.
Each year, the Fromm Music Foundation accepts applications for commissions of new music, which includes all types of compositions regardless of idiom, instrumentation, style, or the use of technology. The Fromm commission represent one of the ways that the Foundation strives to support the creation of new musical works and bring contemporary concert music closer to the public.
