Prof. Betty LIN, Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Education at the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS), has received the AIS Teaching Excellence Award 2023/24.
Leading innovative TEMG courses such as T&M Case Analysis and Product Innovation, Corporate Consulting Projects, IBPC Startup Projects, etc., Prof. Lin has established herself as a pioneering force in experiential learning.
Students commended Prof. LIN's courses as transformative experiences that enhanced their critical thinking and problem-solving skills and served as highlights of their HKUST education. They particularly appreciated her trust in their abilities and the valuable exposure to real industry projects. This unique teaching approach, combining student empowerment with practical industry experience, consistently earned outstanding Student Feedback Questionnaire results throughout the years.
Having previously won the Teaching Excellence Award in 2018/19, Prof. Lin remains passionate about preparing future leaders through her focus on complex problem-solving, interdisciplinary thinking, and cross-cultural management. Her success in connecting classroom learning with real industry needs has created a distinctive learning experience for students.
The award was presented to Prof. Lin during the AIS Faculty Board Meeting on November 8, 2024. Established in 2018, the Award aims to recognize instructors who have made substantial contributions to the design and teaching of AIS courses and outstanding contributions to the learning experience and success of our students.
