The Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD) and Mainland Affairs Office recently introduced the first InnoBay Bootcamp at HKUST, an innovative program aiming at inspiring and guiding the next generation of technopreneurs.

From July 3-13, 2024, the 11-day bootcamp brought together a diverse group of 28 students from 14 universities. With a focus on sports rehabilitation, the program encouraged participants to apply design thinking and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to develop cutting-edge solutions.

ISD Acting Head Prof. ZHANG Qian led an insightful session on Smart Rehabilitation, while Associate Professor of Engineering Education Prof. Winnie LEUNG and Lecturer Mr. Brian LAU conducted an engaging workshop on Design Thinking. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the ISDworks!, gaining hands-on experience with state-of-the-art design and prototyping facilities.

Throughout the bootcamp, students worked in six teams, each tasked with creating unique prototypes for sports rehabilitation products. The program culminated in an exciting Demo Day, where teams presented their innovative projects to a panel of expert judges.

This inaugural InnoBay Bootcamp represents a significant milestone in HKUST's ongoing efforts to nurture innovative talents. It further solidifies Clear Water Bay's position as a cradle of technological innovation, reinforcing HKUST's role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship and technology.
