Four Year 1 students from Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) Jayson CHEUNG, Daniel SIN, Gordon CHOY, and Tessa WONG, have received 2nd runner-up at the 2021 HKGCC Business Case Competition for the PwC business case “New Technologies are Disrupting Business as Usual”.

Their team Chrysanthemum Throne presented their idea of “Creditpedia” to reduce contract risk at the final pitching as they discovered that bad debt has been an inherent problem especially in SMEs. By utilizing the decentralized feature of blockchain technology, they developed a semi-automated transparent credit scoring system. The system can keep tracks of late payments and provide scoring as benchmarking for future business opportunities.

The team said, “Being able to incorporate skills learnt from TEMG courses allowed us to stand out from the competitors. It was truly a fruitful journey and we thank those who had given insightful comments to our project!”. They received a cash prize of HK$10,000, and internship opportunity at the company, together with a HKGCC Student Associate 1-Year Membership.

The HKGCC competition has attracted more than 450 students from various universities in Hong Kong formed around 200 teams to participate in. It subsequently has followed a considerable judging process by implementing multiple rounds of shortlists to the final pitching.
