The final presentation of TEMG4950H “Special Project: Future Transport Planning for Hong Kong” was successfully held on 27 November 2021. Through 13-week coaching by Prof. Betty LIN, the course instructor and Associate Director of Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP), and class meetings with subject experts from HKSAR Transport Department and IBM, our students have envisioned the future of mobility to tackle traffic problems in the city.
Mr. Sai-ho LEUNG, Assistant Commissioner/Planning of Transport Department, was invited as one of the honorable judges of the presentation. He commented, “The ideas from the students are something actually implementable, which are not purely academic but practical solution. I look forward to more TEMG collaborations in the future.”
Prof. Betty LIN added, “Our students’ creatively pragmatic solutions have transformed real-world challenges into opportunities. During this experiential-learning corporate project, they have worked closely with the project mentors to design solutions that can work with Hong Kong’s transportation infrastructure and other operating constraints.”
Similar to the last 6 TEMG4950 corporate projects, this transport planning project was brought to us by T&M-DDP alumnus at Transport Department, Martin CHAN(Class of 2008). Students were blessed to have the support of IBM mentors, Design Thinking workshop leaders and 2 T&M-DDP alumni advisors, Ronald TSE (Class of 2010) and Andy NG (Class of 2016).
Many congratulations to the winning team and Most Valuable Players (MVP) of each team!
